ANOTHER FOOD POST.

My sister arrived in Shanghai on Sunday. We went straight out to have awesome sushi dinner at Haiku by Hatsune.

Made a stop at Citizen for basil drop martinis (and sis is now officially a fan!)

We went to Jia Jia Tang Bao for lunch today. 3 steamers, 36 dumplings (shrimp, pork, chicken) and duck blood soup for 30 RMB. Christ. Lunch for three people = 30 RMB? I like it. And I'll miss it! :-(

Had dinner, tonight, with the fam @ Shangri-la, buffet time again..

My sis and I attacked the desserts.

I'm full.

Tomorrow I need to get up at 5am cause we're going to K-K-K-KOREA! Haven't been there since 2000. So excited!

WO AI SHANGHAI.

I love this city and the people in it.

MOVING ON.

My new home, as of the 17th of May, 2010.
Not this particular building obviously, but this city! Do you recognize it?

HEY AJ!

This is for my friend AJ. He's really American.

NOM.

One of my all-time favorite Chinese appetizers/desserts (can be served as both):

Lotus root stuffed with glutinous rice in honey syrup

I don't remember how much we paid for a whole lotus root. 10 kuai? 18? CHEAPO.

I...

...feel nervous. 2 hours to go.
Keep your fingers crossed for me, okay?

THE ORANGE BOX.

I got another present from the people my dad work with and this time they did very well!
Hello Orange Box containing a Hermès scarf <3

THE VIEW FROM THE 18TH FLOOR.

We moved to a new apartment last Sunday. It's in the building right next to the old apartment (still Fraser Suites), so we didn't have to go very far. This apartment is on the 18th floor, old one was 27th, so that kind of sucks. This apartment is brand new and more spacious though, so it makes up for it. I just have to say I hate dark wood and the color of the living room sofa, but it's okay. I'll survive.

Next time I'll record a video and show you what happens when you enter the master bathroom. First time I went in, I screamed (out of fear). You'll never guess why!

CONTRASTS.

From Ljusterö/Sweden to Shanghai/China.

Yes, first barbecue of the year - note the snow in the background.

Nothing beats Shanghai at night.

AIRPLANE FOOD AND RECLINERS.

I've consumed a shitload of airplane food these past weeks. And honestly it wasn't that bad. Some of it was actually... good? Crazy, I know. Except for the meal in the last pic though. A meal I got served from Beijing - Shanghai with Air China. Pretty much looks like microwaved noodles with a disgusting chocolate cake to go with it... So remember, SAS is quality!

Thought I'd upload some pictures of the veeeery spacious seats I got to experience in first and business class. It's been ages since I got to fly first/business, last time I did I was probably 10 or so... and I've always loved flying so I was pretty stoked. Haha.

Anyway - I would almost say it was worth it, just to be able to sleep well. I slept like a baby on all flights due to the simple fact that I could lie down. There was drool everywhere.

Hi leg space.

BASIL.

I'm so happy! I had.. not only one, but two basil drop martinis tonight.

MISSED YOU!

LAUNCH ME INTO SPACE.

1. Stockholm clouds 2. Arlanda airport 3. Malmö clouds
Brought to you by Kichi's iPhone.

SIGNS.

I wonder how often this happens ^

LOVELY.

COLD.

But at least we have blue skies. You'll never see this shade of blue in Shanghai.

I'M RETURNING TO THE MOTHER(FATHER)LAND.

In Stockholm, 2010.03.17 - 2010.04.06

Things about Shanghai that I'll miss:

1. Overall cheapness of everything

2. Longan, dried litchis, pomelo, and mango - actually fruit and food in general

3. People asking me if I'm a movie star (it's a great confidence boost)

4. The view from my bedroom

5. All the random shit that happens here

6. Being taller than average

Things I won't miss:

1. Chinese people who are rude, loud, and spit everywhere

2. Creepy chinese guys who randomly nudge me and sit really close to me at Starbucks

3. Having my photo taken by strange Chinese men who don't even ask me if it's alright first

4. Western people who think they are all that because they get treated like royalty here

5. UGLY CLOTHES, SUCKY STREETSTYLE :(

OUT OF COMMISSION.

My tooth. All chopped up...

I love smoothies, soups, etc, so I thought I would be fine. However, I find myself craving spicy, chewy, and crispy foods now more than ever. WHY? :( Just because I can't have it! Pffft.

THREE SUNDAY RANDOMS.

1. I really like the way our dining room looks.

2. Sex with bartender - terrible name, but a great cocktail nonetheless.

(ordering it went something like this: "I want sex with bartender")

3. Ladies and gents, I present to you... a real, American, male stripper - well, at least for the night - to the right.

It was his first time, but we think he did pretty well!

LONGAN. DRAGON'S EYE. 龙眼.

One of my favorite things about Shanghai right now:

LONGANS. The Chinese name directly translates to "dragon's eye". Best fruit ever? A must if you're in Asia. But then again, all fruits here are so good... Just stay away from durian and you're good.

So, food-wise, I can only think of a few things I miss here.

1. Avocado - You can buy it here, but it's just really expensive.
2. Thin slices of smoked salmon - Haven't seen kallrökt lax anywhere here :(

3. Frozen berries - Raspberries, blueberries... We bought blueberries here, but they SUCK. They're huuuuge, but they taste nothing like blueberries. They're imported from Chile. Pfft.

That's pretty much it, though...

edit: you know what, no, I thought of some other things.

4. Vanilla yoghurt WITH fat. It's all non-fat over here. Screw you, light products.
5. Cottage cheese aka KESO. Bought some American cottage cheese here and it nearly made me puke.
6. Good old sour milk aka filmjölk..

I have a feeling this post will get edited some more in the future...

WHAT I'M REALLY DOING IN SHANGHAI.

Getting my fat on! (and taking awful iPhone pictures while I'm at it)
